Istanbul’s taxi meters are going to get a face lift by October 2016, according to daily Sabah.
Both Ispark, a subsidiary of the Istanbul Municipality, and the Istanbul Taxis Chamber have confirmed that a tender has been held for the new taxi meters, which will replace the existing meters that have been in use for the last 30 years.
Four companies have bid in the tender and two are currently being seriously considered, according to Turkish daily Sabah. If one of them eventually wins the tender, 18,000 of Istanbul’s taxis could be equipped with the new taxi meter.
