You almost overlook it if you do not know where it’s at the ever busy Istiklal Avenue (No.187), near the Consulate of the Netherlands.
Restaurant Midpoint has become a popular meeting place of Turkish professionals and foreigners working in the area. It is spacious and modern with a tasteful, minimalist, almost Japanese interior design.
With a beautiful outdoors space where you can even sit in the cold winter days thanks to the mobile gas heaters near the tables.
You can always enjoy the view of the Bosphorus: Kadıköy and Üsküdar on the Asian side, and the old town with the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and Blue Mosque on the other side of the Golden Horn. You see little fishing boats and large oil tankers and other cargo ships sail past.
Midpoint has an extensive menu of fusion dishes from the international cuisine. Anyone who fancies traditional Turkish kebabs has come to the wrong address.
They also offer delicious vegetarian dishes and salads.
The service is professional. The wines are good. A lunch or dinner is relatively cheap, considering the great location.
This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in this part of Istanbul.
